TrueStar ATF Automatic Transmission Fluid Type A

TrueStar Products, Roseland, LA

Purchased in: Prestige Mobil, 98 Roa Hook Rd., Peekskill, NY

Date of purchase: 6/9/2012

AdvisoryTruStar ATF is labeled as a Type A fluid, which is not recommended for vehicles built after 1957. The product label does not adequately warn consumers of this very limited use, and the fluid may cause harm if used in modern transmissions. Further, the back label on this product states, "Mixes well with original fluids."  Whereas most lubricants mix well with other lubricants, this statement should not be interpreted as meaning this ATF meets original equipment manufacturer's specifications for virtually any car currently on the road, with the exception of pre-1957 vehicles requiring the use of TYPE A automatic transmission fluid.

In addition, the high silicon level can be indicative of abrasive contaminants, and the zinc level is unusually high.
