Rugged All Season 10W-30 Motor Oil

Colarado Petroleum Products Company, Denver Colorado

Purchased at: La Grande, OR

Date of purchase: 9-21-2010

The sample tested meets the requirements of an API SM ILSAC GF-4 10W-30 Engine Oil. Whereas the 15.5 NOACK of the sample tested  exceeds the specification of 15 max, it falls within the the API acceptable "Expanded Range" of 16.62%. Furhter, a recheck is 15.4 and since the specification  is expressed in two significant figures this result meets specification.

Rugged All Season 10W-30 Motor Oil
The American Petroleum Institute sets forth a number of laboratory and engine tests required to meet an API SM performance specification. Although laboratory tests alone cannot be used to establish if an engine oil meets API SM, they can be used to determine if it doesn't.

What follows is a comparison of the test results for Rugged All Season 10W-30 Motor Oil 10W-30 as compared to the API SM ILSAC GF-4 requirements.

The API SM and ILSAC GF-4 limits for each test are shown by the yellow bars. The test result for Rugged All Season 10W-30 10W-30 are illustrated by the horizontal line.

Viscometrics
The viscometrics of Rugged All Season 10W-30 10W-30 meets the required targets for a 10W-30 API SM (SAE J300 specification).

Volatility Phosphorus
The Volatility of the Rugged All Season 10W30 sample tested does not meet the NOACK Volatility requirements of an API SM ILSAC GF-4 10W-30 Engine Oil. The NOACK volatility does however, fall within the API acceptable "Expanded Range" of 16.62% for an API SM ILSAC GF-4 engine oil

o

The phosphorus content in Rugged All Season 10W-30 10W-30 is within the parameters required to meet an API SM GF-4 Service Category.
