About Us

PQIA is an independent resource for information and insights on the quality of lubricants in the marketplace.

Our goal is to educate and serve consumers of commercial, consumer, and industrial lubricants by monitoring and reporting on the quality of lubricants in the marketplace.

PQIA's Guiding Principles are honesty, integrity and openness.

Educational in nature, PQIA conducts independent testing of lubricants in the market and provides consumers and end users with the data they need to make informed decisions about the quality of lubricants they purchase and use. PQIA’s Website, quality seminars, newsletter, and other distinguished programs provide access to the objective and pragmatic information consumer and end users need to assess lubricant quality.

What makes PQIA different

  • We serve the lubricant consumer rather than oil company members or Supporters .
  • We conduct random lubricant sampling.
  • We have all samples analyzed by an independent laboratory.
  • All data from testing of branded lubricants are made public.

While PQIA accepts funding from industry Supporters , our testing and reporting is completely independent and our results are published without influence from Supporters .

Certification program

The PQIA Lubricant Certification Program is designed to help consumers and buyers identify lubricants that meet objective independent testing criteria. Marketers whose lubricants meet the requirements of the certification program are authorized to use the PQIA Certified Mark on those products. In addition to assisting consumers and buyers select quality lubricants, the PQIA Certified Mark improves product marketability.
