Advisory: The sample tested does not meet the NOACK Volatility requirements of an API SM ILSAC GF-4 5W-30 Engine Oil. The NOACK volatility does however, fall within the API acceptable "Expanded Range" of 16.62% maximum for an API SM ILSAC GF-4 engine oil

Spectrol 5W-30 Motor Oil

The American Petroleum Institute sets forth a number of laboratory and engine tests required to meet an API SM performance specification. Although laboratory tests alone cannot be used to establish if an engine oil meets API SM, they can be used to determine if it doesn't.

What follows is a comparison of the test results for Spectrol Synthetic Blend 5W-30 Motor Oil as compared to the API SM ILSAC GF-4 requirements.

Viscometrics

The viscometrics of Spectrol Synthetic Blend 5W-30 Motor Oil meets the required targets for a 5W-30 API SM (SAE J300 specification).

 

   
Volatility Phosphorus
The volatility of Spectrol Synthetic Blend 5W-30 Motor Oil tested does not meet the parameters required for an API SM ILSAC GF-4 designation. The NOACK volatility does, however, fall within the API acceptable extended range for the product.
