Road-Tech Premium 5W-30 Motor Oil
The American Petroleum Institute sets forth a number of laboratory and engine tests required to meet an API SM performance specification. Although laboratory tests alone cannot be used to establish if an engine oil meets API SM, they can be used to determine if it doesn't.

What follows is a comparison of the test results for Road-Tech Premium 5W-30 Motor Oil as compared to the API SM ILSAC GF-4 requirements.

The API limits for each test are shown by the yellow bars. The test result for Road-Tech Premium 5W-30 Motor Oil are illustrated by the horizontal line.

Viscometrics

The viscosity of Road-Tech Premium 5W-30 Motor Oil meets the required target for a 5W-30 API SM (SAE J300 specification) at 100ºC. The Cold Crank results are, however, slightly exceed the maximum of 6,600 cP. The cold crank results for this product does, however, fall well within the API acceptable "Expanded Range" of 7,082 for a 5W-30.

Volatility Phosphorus
The volatility of Road-Tech Premium 5W-30 Motor Oil meets the parameters required for an API SM ILSAC GF-4 designation.
